For me its 'Yummmm', 'SuperYummm'. Most of us relate to tilting the can, trying to take out Condensed Milk on our finger and licking it. Its not just childhood memories but remembrance of the awesome taste that we have been missing. So are you ready to make your own Condensed Milk with same consistency, same flow, same taste and same tilting and licking.
What is that one word that comes to your mind when I say 'Condensed Milk' For me its 'Yummmm', 'SuperYummm'. Condensed Milk is a great substitute for egg in eggless baking, several Indian Sweets and Desserts are prepared using it. In fact in our upcoming post I'll be sharing recipe for Cream Cheese Frosting using Condensed milk and we shall also be making a Chocolate and Beetroot Cake with Fresh Cream Cheese Frosting wherein the Cream Cheese Frosting shall be prepared using Condensed Milk. Let's first start with Condensed Milk.
My love for food and fondness towards travel has led me to plan my most awaited food trail. I have my college friends telling me past many months to plan a weekend outing but something or the other comes up and we end up catching up with each other (with a few of them missing - busy relishing meals with their special someone) at dinner at a grand restaurant. We all studied food and nutrition and food is both our love and weakness.. nothing can come in our way if we plan not just a weekend outing but a food trail. So first thoughts that came to my mind were where to go for our first food trail. I opened up my net browser and clicked on Yatra. So here we are already ready to plan our itinerary. And I am so excited. This would be my first experience towards looking at a destination for the food and taste its tradition has to offer. We shall have regional cuisine and savour the taste of seasonal vegetables prepared there in the most desi way. This would not only give us a new vision to look at the traditions the city has been safe guarding for years but also bring us a lot closer to India as a nation which has so much to offer.
Our first destination is Punjab. We decided to take a flight to Chandigarh, of course domestic airlines at the most affordable prices are at Yatra and I love the fact that I have Indigo web check-in facility available, cause as my friends know me, I am kinda running late most of the times, so web check in is certainly the best thing for me. We have heard that Punjab roadway bus are pretty awesome so probably we would catch up Amritsar. Amritsar is definitely on my mind cause I want to have Golden Temple Gurudwara ka Langar. That definitely is on priority list. Chola Kulcha to Gulab Jamun.. Amritsar ki vadiyan to Chicken Keema Parantha.. everything is on my radar list. Lassi is of course my favourite of them all.. Ahh Punjabi food has so much to offer.. a weekend food trail seems so short.. I believe we need to plan a 5 day 4 night visit to Punjab. So lets plan - Day 1 would be Mumbai to Chandigarh flight, would relish food at Chandigarh and visit the rock garden and serenade with the beauty this planned city has to offer. Day 2 shall be From Chandigarh to Amritsar where my craving for Gurudwara ka langar shall be fulfilled followed by Chola Kulcha and Gulab Jamun. Day 3 : Amritsar shall make much more patriotic with a early morning visit at Wagah Border and then my Food for love shall continue with the best tasting dhaba chicken and evening shall have makki di roti te sarson ka saag.. already drooling on the idea. Day 4 shall be for shopping of Jutiyaan and Amritsar di Vadiyaan and Papads. Afterall no food trail shall be considered complete if we dont buy the famous food items of that place. Evening train to Delhi from Amritsar. Day 5: Delhi – Paranthe wali Gali and kulfi at India Gate. Evening flight to Mumbai with exotic meals in the flight. I am pretty sure Yatra would help me plan this Yatra of Mine and of my friends. Infact this would be the first and there shall be many more food trails that we would then plan.. I am already waiting for this perfection vacation plan to begin. chef sanjeev kapoor tasted my dish and said 'its good' -MEETING SANJEEV KAPOOR WAS A DREAM COME TRUE11/4/2015 Just how often it happens with you that your dreams come true? Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Most of the times we are in a hurry, we are short of time and tend to skip our breakfast. Our work takes a toll on our health every morning. Being a nutritionist, I always ensure whenever I take nutrition session in a school, college or corporate, I focus on changing the habit of breakfast skipping. It’s more than 75% of the targeted audience in every nutrition workshop who agree that at least three times a week they go to the office empty stomach, once they reach the office, a cup of tea accompanied with loads of work marks the start of the day. In a span of three to four years of consistent skipping of breakfast they do fall prey to acidity. That’s because we did not fuel up our system and simply consumed tea which leads to more acidic environment in our stomach leading to acidity. In fact I have set this as a priority topic even in my television appearances and newspaper articles. I am glad that it’s not just me who is working towards generating awareness of importance of breakfast but even the team of Kellogg’s. Kellogg’s has always given importance to healthy breakfast. If you think healthy isn't tasty, you sure are missing on the fun of being healthy yet being trendy and eating delicious. Why don’t you come to Gupta ji’s house for breakfast one day? All those delicious drooling recipes that I mentioned at the start, that rose falooda, custard, shakes, muffins are all prepared for breakfast, and that too with a dash of health with Kellogg’s, you surely should visit them. https://www.youtube.com/user/kelloggindia I shall visit them tomorrow and shall ask them to teach me more and more healthy delicious recipes which are whipped up in seconds. After all a Nutritionist keeps on striving for more and more healthy recipes and the foody that I am keep on asking for more and more tasty mouth-watering recipes, I love the exotic blend of taste and nutrition and so Gupta ji ke ghar ka breakfast to banta hai. https://www.facebook.com/anaajkanashta I know you stay far away but the good news is that you can meet them on YouTube, yup meet them and relish their breakfast recipe and try it at home for yourself and your family. Kids, youth and elders, all shall enjoy the tasty breakfast. Another plus point is that this breakfast preparation is very easy, even bachelor’s staying alone can prepare this, it shall take less than fifteen minutes to get ready to be relished. Taste and nutrition combo, that too Nutritionist recommended, what more do we want. So no more excuses get ready and relish the essence of being healthy, the morning breakfast.
Together we are happy and God keeps us this way is what we always pray.
Sometimes with the daily routine of life, getting up early morning, making breakfast, working hard at a 9-5 job, reaching home and making dinner and finally trying to find some me time, with no one around but you, alone sitting on your bedside thinking I wish I could just go back and be with my family. I wish I could sleep late, get up at lunch time, shower in the evening and call my dinner my lunch. Watch television with my family, go on an outing, some unknown destination spend some fun crazy days. Sometimes we feel that we do earn a lot but what use is this money if it can’t find us the happiness we are missing. It’s not the time neither the situations but the togetherness that gives us the happiness, the freshness of roses and the ray of hope, the motivation to get going and be our best each day in every way. https://housing.com/ My doctoral thesis work is on-going and somehow in the midst of draft one, draft two, draft three of results, discussions and the unending review of literature with the search for relevant and recent updates on the research objective, I lost the motivation to go ahead with it. The monotonous time consuming perfection demanding work now made me feel dizzy and sleepy every time I switched on the laptop to continue ahead with my doctoral thesis work. Each day I had deadlines to finish at least one chapter and get it sorted but the deadlines kept stretching. And soon I realized I need to bring back life to my work. And suddenly the phone rang, I was informed that it’s my cousins engagement coming up in next two days and we all shall head to Jaipur for the celebration. Confused with the deadlines being further extended, I felt I shouldn't go anywhere rather sit home and focus on my thesis work, no celebrations for me until I finish work. But I had lost the dedication and no, nobody shall allow me to stay back home when its family time nor would I wish to miss my cousin sister’s auspicious day. So we all decided to head to Jaipur in our car. All the way we were having fun at the journey with sunshine followed by heavy rains. Fun on the run with family took me away from the daily schedule of switching on the laptop and pinning down the reviews. Once we reached Jaipur, it was a fresh reunion of all my cousins and relatives spending time together and creatively wrapping the auspicious coconut and ring ceremony plate and fruits basket, chit chatting and laughing all the way. Hair and Make-up and the best of the best traditional attires made each one of us appear as the most beautiful person on Earth. Grand celebration clubbed with ultimate buffet with yummy desserts and loads of clicks made my dull, monotonous life filled with freshness and optimism. Once I was back at home, I realized I was willing to look forward to my work with positivism of completing the work with perfection, something which had gone missing earlier. I realized, it’s the time that we spend with our family and near and dear ones that gives us the motivation to be optimistic and look up. https://housing.com/ Start a new life We all have dreams, dreams of our ambition, that thought of one day. One day, I would buy a new house of my own, one day I would buy a SUV, one day I shall own a restaurant of my own, one day I have a bigger closet, one day I shall cook delicious food, one day I shall travel around the world. We always dream of that one day but it’s always difficult to think of bringing that one day into reality. That one day means the start of new life. A new change which is signifies that we are living better and moving forward. I too have a dream, a dream to be famous. ‘Challenges are high, Dreams are new World out there ,Is waiting for you Dare to dream , dare to try No goal is too distant , No star is too high’ Let me share my story of how I decided to bring the change and be different. It was my optimism which moved me ahead from step one to step two. I always dream of being famous, how I never knew, but that one day shall come soon was the positivism and optimism I had within me. I did my schooling from a small city where students come from all across India to clear the engineering, medical and IIT entrance tests. There was only one culture, if you are good in maths go for engineering, good in science, opt for medical, study 24*7, get up early morning at 4:00 am, get ready and go for coaching, then school and then coaching class again. Study, study, study then sit for competitive exams and if you do not clear it once, follow the routine for next year and then next unless you get your desired engineering or medical college, and you are all set to be an engineer or a doctor. I acknowledge the work of all engineer and doctor but 9-5 job of an engineer was not my cup of tea, nor did I had the guts the go ahead and opt for surgery, I can’t face blood oozing out of my body due to a finger prick, so I knew medicine is not for me. But as I said it’s a city where its all about IIT, PET and PMT. How living in a small city and sitting in coaching class with thousands and lakhs of students would make me famous. This was the time when I decided, to move ahead for good. I love my family and would always want to live in my house with my Mom, Dad, my Grandparents and Siblings around, but then I had a dream, a dream which said one day I shall be famous. So I moved ahead to find out what interests me and realized it’s the essence of food and the nourishment it provides to our body. I chalked out the best college for my degree and cleared my entrance in the best nutrition college of Mumbai. Sorted, I knew what am I going to do, but again what about being famous? I decided to go step by step, and in no time I realized that it’s not what you think but your positivism and optimism that brings your dream closer to reality. Believe in your dreams and take that first step like I did. https://housing.com/
