The workshop was organised by Lions Club Kota South at Central Academy Shikshantar School,Kota Rajasthan on 10 Jan 2015, Saturday.
150 girls from classes 6th to 9th participated in the workshop. Kids enjoyed playing foodictionary and diet recall games where they learnt the importance of all food groups in the most gamified way.
75% of the kids suggested they love to eat potatoes everyday however, when asked for green leafy vegetables, only a handfull suggested they do consume it. 25% of the Girls misunderstood the meaning of green leafy vegetables to be green coloured vegetables and suggested they eat them almost daily in the form of ladies finger. Their myths and doubts were busted and a fresh approach of eating in moderation and stay healthy was instilled in the kids. Girls were encouraged to drink more water as most of them suggested they consume only 4-5 glasses of water in a day.
Priyam suggested green leafy vegetables like spinach and fenugreek leaves along with beetroot, dates, ragi, milk and milk products, egg, nuts, pulses, fruits should be included a girl's diet plan. We should try to limit consumption of outside foods and prefer home made foods which our Mothers' prepare. They are the best nutrition experts of their kids.
